This is only the second T20 match being held in Raipur. In the first match, which took place on December 1, 2023, India defeated Australia by 20 runs. Spinners Akshar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi had troubled the Australian batsmen while chasing the target of 175 runs. That match took place before the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph and since then India have significantly stepped up their attacking game with the bat. If they bat first again and Abhishek Sharma or any other Indian batsman plays a brilliant innings, then it could be another difficult challenge for New Zealand.
