IND vs NZ: A new controversy before T20 World Cup 2026! Michael Vaughan accused the ICC of bias

T20 World Cup 2026 Final: The T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand will be played on Sunday, March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, a new controversy has arisen before the final match. Legendary English cricketer Michael Vaughan has accused the International Cricket Council (ICC) of bias. In fact, due to the Iran-Israel war, many cricket teams that came to play the T20 World Cup are still stuck in India.

West Indies and South Africa, who were knocked out of the tournament after defeats in the Super 8s, are yet to return home, but England, who crashed out of the World Cup after a semi-final defeat, have returned home. Vaughn has targeted the ICC over the issue.

Michael Vaughan accuses the ICC of bias!

Former England captain Michael Vaughan took to social media platform X on March 7 to express his displeasure, saying that England crashed out of the tournament on Thursday and flights were arranged for them on Saturday. Meanwhile, West Indies and South Africa, who were eliminated before England, are still stuck in India. It seems that there is abuse of power here.

He wrote, “England was eliminated on Thursday and is returning home on a charter flight today. West Indies got out last Sunday and are still in Kolkata. South Africa is in the same situation. Power is being abused here. In such a situation, all teams should be treated equally. Just because you are more powerful in the ICC table means nothing.”

In fact, West Indies played their last match on March 1, losing to India in the Super 8 match and exiting the tournament. South Africa exited the tournament on 4 March and England on 5 March. On Saturday, the ICC arranged charter flights for all the three teams, but the England team flew directly from Mumbai to London. Meanwhile, the West Indies and South Africa teams had to wait and will leave for their respective countries on March 8. It is reported that the charter flight will first go to Johannesburg and then to Antigua.

Darren Sammy had appealed for help

Earlier, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy had appealed for help via social media, saying the team just wanted to return home. Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies issued a statement saying that they are trying to resolve the issue. The statement said the board has been in constant contact with the players, team management and the ICC since the last match against India.
