IND vs NZ: Ashwin created history in the first session, broke his world record

The second test match between India and New Zealand has started from today. The second match of the Test series is being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. In this match, the visiting team won the toss and batted first. Taking a big decision, the Indian team management made three changes in this match. Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj were replaced by Washington Sundar, Akashdeep and Shubman Gill. In the very first session of the match, star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history by making a big record.

Jasprit Bumrah and Akashdeep started the bowling for India. However, captain Rohit Sharma immediately handed the ball to Ashwin in the seventh over of the innings. Ashwin made the opposition captain Tom Latham a victim in the very first over. Ashwin trapped the Kiwi batsman LBW on the fifth ball of the over. Ashwin also gave India the second wicket when Will Young was caught out by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant after scoring 18 runs. With this wicket, Ashwin created history.

In fact, by taking these two wickets, Ashwin has made the record of dismissing the most number of batsmen in the history of the World Test Championship. Earlier this record was in the name of Nathan Lyon of Australia. Nathan Lyon has taken 187 wickets in 43 matches played in WTC so far. Ashwin now has 188 wickets. He has left Lyon behind in just 39 matches.

Ashwin equals Lyon in taking most Test wickets
Ashwin has equaled Australia's legendary spinner Nathan Lyon in terms of taking most wickets in Test cricket. Lyon has 530 test wickets in his name. And it is at number seven in this list. However, compared to Lyon, Ashwin has completed this wicket in only 104 Test matches. Lyon has 530 wickets in his name in 129 matches.
