IND vs NZ : Beware Sanju Samson…Aakash Chopra made the air! This Kiwi fast bowler is a “big threat” to him.
Former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra has given a serious warning to Team India’s opener Sanju Samson ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup final. Samson’s strong innings in the last match of the Super 8 and in the semi-finals ensured Team India’s place in the finals. India will now take on New Zealand, a team against whom Sanju Samson failed to score before the T20 World Cup. Matt Henry harassed him throughout the series. He also praised Lockie Ferguson.
Sanju Samson opens the innings and Matt Henry starts the bowling. There seems to be a possibility of a face-off between the two. Akash Chopra explained on his YouTube channel that the Kiwi fast bowlers have to be careful. He said, “I think Sanju Samson will have to be a bit careful against Matt Henry, because Henry is brilliant. He will bowl full and take the ball away from you. You go deep inside the crease and he has troubled you before. I think I scored a zero on the first ball against him. It was probably the Guwahati ground. The ball was bowled too full and it hit the stumps.”

He further spoke about Lockie Ferguson and said, “It will be a plan and New Zealand will plan very well. So you have to play a bit more carefully against him. Lockie Ferguson came in the last match in Thiruvananthapuram and hit the ball on the stumps. I won’t tell you to go all out against him because it’s not necessary to score 250 every time. You have to take some time and accelerate.” In the third match, Matt Henry dismissed Sanju Samson on the first ball and Lockie Ferguson dismissed Abhishek and Sanju early in the last match.
Sanju Samson has played 61 T20 matches so far. In those 61 matches, he has played 53 innings, scoring 1310 runs with three centuries. These 61 matches include 16 of Sanju Samson’s highest runs in T20Is, i.e. he has scored more than 25 runs. Importantly, India have won all 16 matches in which Sanju Samson has scored more than 25 runs.
