IND vs NZ Final: An exciting final match of ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is going to be held between India and New Zealand today on 8 March 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match is very special for both the teams.
If India wins, it will create many histories – become champion twice in a row, become the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil and create the record of being the first team to win a total of three titles. At the same time, with the victory of New Zealand, there will be a new winner in the T20 World Cup, because they have not won this trophy till now.
20% increase in prize pool
This time ICC has fixed a total prize pool of 13.5 million dollars (about more than Rs 120 crore) for the tournament. This is about 20% more than the 2024 edition. This amount has increased due to co-hosting, strong broadcasting rights and sponsorship deals in India and Sri Lanka. This clearly shows the increasing commercial value of cricket.
Amount received by winner and runner-up
The team that wins the final will get a huge amount of 3 million dollars (about Rs 27.48 crore). The runner-up team will be given $1.6 million (about Rs 14.65 crore). Meaning whether India wins or New Zealand loses, both the teams are guaranteed to earn crores of rupees. This money will be a big bonus for the team’s board, players and support staff.
Earnings of semi-finalists and Super 8 teams
England and South Africa, the losing teams in the semi-finals, will receive $790,000 (approximately Rs 7.24 crore) each. Teams out of Super 8 like Pakistan, host Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe etc. will be given $ 380,000 (about Rs 3.48 crore) each.
Group stage teams will also get money
A total of 20 teams participated in the tournament. The teams eliminated in the group stage will also get $250,000 (approximately Rs 2.29 crore). In this way, every participating team will definitely get some prize money, which is an incentive for small teams also.
This big prize pool is a big motivation for cricketers. The result of the final will decide the earning of crores along with the trophy. The thrill of the match is not only related to the field but also to money.
