IND vs NZ: Dharamshala, Mumbai and now Vadodara, Darryl Mitchell washed Team India again
After a tremendous start in the Vadodara ODI, New Zealand’s innings faltered. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls had made an opening partnership of 117 runs. After this, the Kiwi team lost 5 wickets while reaching 198 runs. It seemed difficult for him to reach the score of 250 but Darryl Mitchell took charge from one end and played a blazing innings of 84 runs, taking him to the big score of 300 runs.
Mitchell, who landed at number-4, faced 71 balls in his innings and hit 5 fours and 3 sixes. He became the victim of Prasidh Krishna in the 48th over. Mitchell had hit three consecutive boundaries against Prasidh in this over before getting out. He returned to the pavilion after giving the necessary momentum to the Kiwi team’s innings.

Mitchell likes India’s bowling
Mitchell, who is at number-3 after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen, has played the fourth 50 plus run inning in the last 5 ODI matches against India. Earlier, he had scored two centuries against Team India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. After scoring 130 runs in the group stage match in Dharamshala, Mitchell had scored 134 runs in the semi-final match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, both his century innings were of no use to New Zealand.
The same situation happened in the Champions Trophy last year also. Mitchell had scored 63 runs in the final match. But the Kiwi team could reach the score of 251/7. India had easily achieved this target by losing 6 wickets in 49 overs. Now it remains to be seen whether his innings in Vadodara can lead to victory for New Zealand or not. New Zealand has set a target of 301 runs for India in Vadodara ODI.
