Illingworth is counted among the most experienced umpires in the world. He has also successfully performed the role of on-field umpire in the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy. He will be joined at the other end by Alex Wharf, who is part of the ICC’s elite panel.

Who is the third umpire and match referee?
Apart from the on-field umpire, the responsibility of the third umpire (TV umpire) has been entrusted to Allahuddin Palekar of South Africa. The 48-year-old Palekar was named to the ICC’s elite panel in March 2025 and has umpired brilliantly in six matches across the tournament. Also, Zimbabwe’s Andy Pycroft will officiate as the ‘Match Referee’ in the final. Adrian Holdstock will be the fourth umpire.
