IND vs NZ Playing XI : The series of five T20I matches between India and New Zealand is going to start from today (Wednesday). After facing a 2-1 defeat in the ODI series at home, the Indian team will now look to settle scores with New Zealand in this series. India vs New Zealand 1st T20I match will be played on Wednesday 21st January 2026 at 7:00 PM IST at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. Before this match, Indian captain Surya Kumar Yadav has confirmed that Ishan Kishan will be given a chance in the playing eleven. Surya said, “Ishaan will play at number 3. He is in our World Cup team and we selected him first… I think he is our best option at number 3.” With this, all the doubts and speculations about who would play in place of injured Tilak Verma in the first three matches came to an end.
Ishan, who is also in the World Cup squad, will get a chance before Shreyas Iyer. That means, in the first T20I, India will take the field with two wicketkeeper batsmen. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma will be seen opening the innings. A total of six bowlers including three all-rounders may get a chance in this match. Which will include Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Akshar Patel and Varun Chakraborty.
