If some reports are to be believed, the BCCI selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar may announce the Indian team on 4 or 5 January 2026. In which decisions can be taken regarding many things. Stars like Ishan Kishan and Mohammed Siraj are expected to return to the ODI team in the upcoming series. Let us tell you that the New Zealand team has already announced its ODI squad. The first match of the series will be played on January 11 in Vadodara.
Pandya and Bumrah can be given rest
According to the latest report in Cricbuzz, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah may be rested for the three ODIs against New Zealand as there are more important matches ahead, especially the T20 World Cup. The report also states that Shreyas Iyer, who has been out of international cricket since late October due to a spleen injury. He can play in Mumbai’s match against Maharashtra on January 3 to test his fitness before the selection of the ODI team.
Iyer is currently in the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE). At this time it is not clear whether he will play ODI or not, but sources close to him say that he is leaving no stone unturned. Many reports are claiming that Ishan Kishan may get a chance in the ODI team and Rishabh Pant may be dropped from the team.
