IND vs SA 2nd T20: ‘It’s India’s fault…’, former Indian batsman targets coach Gautam Gambhir’s strategy
Robin Uthappa criticizes Gautam Gambhir : India lost the second T20 match against South Africa. After that, the Indian team and the organization of the team have started to be criticized. Similarly, former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa has said that there is a lack of clarity regarding India’s batting strategy while chasing big targets. He would say that early innings makes it difficult to score runs due to high flexibility. Chasing a target of 214 runs against South Africa in the second T20I at Mullanpur on Thursday, India were bowled out for 162 runs in 19.1 overs.

Robin Uthappa said I, the problem was not the early wickets, but the strategy adopted after Shubman Gill’s dismissal. Although India’s batting is strong, the team has not been able to use it effectively. He said, “When Shubman Gill was dismissed, Akshar Patel came in to bat. At that time he had to play the role of a batsman who would take risks and try to score quick runs to reduce the pressure on Abhishek Sharma.”
According to Uthappa, Akshar’s slow innings of 21 failed to ease the pressure. Which saw wickets fall around him and a major change in strategy. This made the chase even slower. Robin said that “At international level, batsmen need to have a clear understanding of their roles and how to keep the net going forward.”

Flexibility in strategy OK
Robin Uthappa said, “Flexibility in strategy is fine after the first six to eight overs, but a strong foundation is essential when chasing big runs. You cannot build a skyscraper without a strong foundation.” He also added that “As players are expected to play multiple roles in a single match, things get complicated and this is where India failed.”
