Spin all-rounder Akshar Patel He has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series due to illness. Due to poor health, he could not even play in the third match at Dharamsala on Sunday. So, 31-year-old spin all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed’s luck has paid off. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has replaced Akshar with Shahbaz Ahmed in the squad.

Clarification given by BCCI

“Team India all-rounder Akshar Patel has been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against South Africa due to illness. However, he is with the team in Lucknow, where he will undergo further medical evaluation,” the BCCI said in a statement on Monday.

Shahbaz returns to the Indian team after two years

The men’s selection committee has replaced Shahbaz Ahmed in the squad for the T20 Internationals to be held in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Shahbaz has made a comeback to the Indian team after almost two years. He last played for India in October 2023. Shahbaz has so far played 3 ODIs and 2 T20 Internationals.
