IND vs SA, Fourth T20I: Sanju Samson’s six injures a fan at Wanderers, Indian batter says sorry

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma were on a six-hitting spree in the fourth and final T20I against South Africa. Samson’s fourth six injured a spectator at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The incident happened on the second ball of the Indian innings’ 10th over. Tristan Stubbs bowled a flighted delivery, and Samson dispatched it for a six, but it bounced off the railing and hit the face of a young fan.

She started crying as the impact of the ball was hard, and a fellow spectator applied an ice pack to her face. Samson raised his hand to say sorry to the lady the moment he saw that the ball had hit her.

Samson and Tilak’s hundreds took the team’s total to 283/1. This was the Men in Blue’s highest T20I total in an overseas match. The two shared a 210-run partnership off just 93 balls for the second wicket.

After their onslaught, Arshdeep dismantled South Africa’s top order, taking three wickets in three overs. The Proteas were bowled out for 148 in 18.2 overs, and India won the match by 135 runs.

Samson amassed 109 runs off 56 balls, while Varma accumulated 120 not out off 47 balls.

Sanju has hit three tons in the last five matches. On the other hand, Varma has scored back-to-back T20I tons.

India hit 23 sixes, with Samson registering nine maximums while Varma smashed 10.
