IND vs ZIM: India desperate to win over Zimbabwe, used special chemical to ‘help the bowlers’
IND vs ZIM: India is going to play an important Super 8 match against Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup. This match will be held this evening at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk), Chennai. This is a do or die match for both the teams, because victory is necessary to reach the semi-finals. India is fully prepared for this match and is hopeful of victory.
Special preparations to deal with the problem of dew
In T20 matches, evening dew creates great difficulty for the bowlers. The ball becomes wet, no grip is made and the batsmen get the advantage. Till now in this World Cup, there has not been much effect of dew in the evening matches, but due to the rising temperature in Chennai, this concern has increased. However, now Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has found a smart solution to this problem.
Before the tournament, the outfield of Chepauk was renovated. During this time, TNCA imported a special chemical named ‘Dew Cure’ from America. This chemical is used in Major League Baseball fields.
How does ‘Due Cure’ work?
The ground staff mixed this chemical in water and sprinkled it on the outfield. This process was done on Tuesday and Wednesday. Spraying took place again a day before the match i.e. on Thursday afternoon. According to sources, after spraying ‘Dew Cure’, moisture does not remain on the grass leaves.
Even if moisture comes, it is immediately absorbed and the grass remains dry. This gives better grip to the bowlers and balance is maintained in the match. The Indian team practiced in Chepauk on Tuesday and Wednesday. The team management seemed quite satisfied with the dew-free conditions.
team strategy
Chepauk’s pitch has proved to be favorable for the batsmen in this tournament. The average first innings score here has been around 187. Usually spinners get help, but this time even fast bowlers are not getting much benefit. Having dew control will help the bowlers, which will strengthen India’s spin and pace attack.
BCCI is considering adopting this method in the semi-finals and finals also. In future, ‘Dew Cure’ can also be used in the stadiums of IPL 2026.
