The three-match T20 series between India and Zimbabwe has started. The first match of the series is being played on 23 July at Harare Sports Club. In this match, Team India has won the toss and decided to bowl first. India has entered the field in this match with a combination of three fast bowlers and one spinner. Ashok Sharma is debuting for the Indian team in this match.
This is the third T20 series for Shreyas Iyer as captain. Till now, under his captaincy, Team India has not been able to win even a single T20 series. In such a situation, this series against Zimbabwe is considered very important for Iyer. Earlier, India had to face defeat in the T20 series against Ireland and England.

Who is Ashok Sharma?
Rajasthan’s fast bowler Ashok Sharma has got a place in the Indian team for the first time on the basis of his excellent domestic performance. He first came into limelight during the 2025–26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He set the record for the highest wicket taker in the tournament by taking 22 wickets in 10 matches. His pace of over 150 km/hr and accurate hard-length bowling caught everyone’s attention. Due to his performance, Gujarat Titans gave him a chance in IPL, where he created a lot of buzz even with his debut. Now after being selected in the Indian team, Ashok has a golden opportunity to make his mark in international cricket.
