After losing the toss, wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson played an aggressive inning of 24 runs for Team India, who came to bat first. Abhishek Sharma, who was continuously failing, made a comeback and scored 55 runs in 30 balls. Ishan Kishan, who came to bat at number 3, also added 38 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs in just 13 balls.

Today, Tilak, who came to bat at number 6, scored unbeaten 44 runs in just 16 balls, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya also hit a fifty in 23 balls. Both Pandya and Tilak hit 4 skyscraper sixes each. Due to which Team India scored 256 runs at the loss of only 4 wickets in 20 overs. For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarwa, Blessing Muzarabani and Sikandar Raza took 1 wicket each.
