New Delhi: Ahead of the three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe, Indian fast bowler Ashok Sharma spoke openly about his cricket journey and inspiration. Despite playing limited matches for Gujarat Titans, he said that the guidance of head coach Ashish Nehra has given a new direction to his game and confidence.

The 24-year-old fast bowler said that whenever he has any doubt regarding his bowling or performance, he first seeks advice from Ashish Nehra. According to him, Nehra is always ready to help the players and this inspires him to continuously improve.

‘If you have any questions even in the middle of the night, come over’

Ashok Sharma said that Ashish Nehra had once told him that if he had any question even at midnight, he could come to him without any hesitation. This trust made him mentally strong. He told that he constantly takes feedback from Nehra by watching videos of his bowling and discusses every small and big technical thing.

Ashok said that he got the opportunity to learn a lot from Nehra during the IPL and he considers him as his mentor. He believes that this guidance has played an important role in him becoming a better bowler.

The biggest dream is to play test cricket for India.

Ashok Sharma said that his first goal at the moment is to take full advantage of the opportunity in the Zimbabwe series and get as many wickets as possible for Team India. He said that it is a matter of pride for him to wear the Indian jersey and he wants to take full advantage of this opportunity.

He further said that after limited overs, his next big goal is to play Test cricket for India as soon as possible. Ashok, who has performed brilliantly for Rajasthan’s Ranji team, said that his biggest dream is to represent the country in red ball cricket.

Dale Steyn is ideal

Ashok Sharma also told that legendary South African fast bowler Dale Steyn is his idol. Inspired by his aggressive bowling and consistency, he is trying to improve his game further.
