IND vs ZIM: Zimbabwe team ready to face India! Squad announced for T20 series, 3 players named Dutch; Entry of experienced player

The Zimbabwe Cricket Board has announced its squad for the three-match T20I series against India. Led by Sikandar Raza, this 15-member squad includes many experienced players. Interestingly, the first match between the two teams will be played on Thursday and the team was announced a day in advance. Wicketkeeper-batsman Tafadzwa Tsiga has been included in the 15-man squad for the first time. All-rounder Wesley Madhewere and fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri have also returned to Zimbabwe’s T20 squad. The first match of the series will be played in Harare on Thursday. The hosts are set to lose their last two T20I series after losing six matches in a row under Shreyas Iyer.

3 players from Dutch, while entry of Tafadzwa Tsiga

Tsiga, who has played 10 Tests, is yet to make his debut in white-ball cricket. Madhevere, who was included in the Test and ODI squads during the Bangladesh series, returns to the T20 squad for the first time since July 2025. He has played a total of 79 T20 Internationals for Zimbabwe so far. Meanwhile, Nyamhuri is returning to the team after recovering from injury. Due to injury, he was not part of the squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Tanaka Chiwanga, who replaced Nyamhuri in the ODI series against Bangladesh, has retained his place in the squad. The three players will replace Clive Madende, Tinotenda Maphosa and Tashinga Musekiwa.

Sikandar Raza is the backbone of the team

Sikandar Raza has been entrusted with the leadership of the team. Under the leadership of Raza, Zimbabwe’s performance against Bangladesh was excellent. The team performed strongly and won the only Test and ODI series. However, Zimbabwe lost 1-2 in the T20 series. The hosts will have a tough challenge ahead of Rata. However, the Indian team has recently suffered heavy losses against Ireland and England. The last match between India and Zimbabwe was in the Super 8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup, in which India defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs. There have been 14 T20 matches between India and Zimbabwe so far, out of which India has won 11 times and Zimbabwe has won 3 times.

Series schedule

The first match of the T20 series will be played on July 23. The second match will be played on July 25 and the final on July 26. All matches in the series will be played at the Harare Sports Club ground in Harare.
