India A secured their place in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, defeating Sri Lanka by five wickets in the semifinal.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first in the semifinal match. However, India’s bowling unit maintained control throughout the innings, restricting Sri Lanka to 118 all out in 19.4 overs. Sanjana Kavindi scored 31 runs off 35 balls, while Shashini Gimhani made 22 runs off 17 balls. Hansima Karunaratne and Sathya Sandeepani contributed 14 and 15 runs respectively.
India captain Radha Yadav delivered the most effective bowling performance, taking four wickets for 19 runs in 3.4 overs. Prema Rawat claimed two wickets for nine runs in four overs, and Tanuja Kanwar also took two wickets.
Chasing a target of 119, India made a quick start but lost their first wicket at 30 runs. Vrinda Dinesh and Anushka Sharma then added 47 runs in 24 balls to strengthen the position. Vrinda Dinesh top-scored with an unbeaten 42 off 20 balls, guiding India to the target in 13.3 overs.
With this result, India A advanced to the final of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026, scheduled to be played on 22 February. India will face either Bangladesh or Pakistan, who are set to play their semifinal on 20 February.
