India A Women defends Rising Asia Cup title, defeats Bangladesh in final
ACC Women’s Asia Cup: India A successfully defended the title by defeating Bangladesh A by 46 runs in the final of ACC Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars played at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Sunday. The team led by captain Radha Yadav showed excellent all-round performance and became back-to-back champions.
India made a competitive score
After winning the toss and batting first, India A scored 134 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. The team faced setbacks in the beginning. Openers Nandini Kashyap and Dinesh Vrinda made a partnership of 30 runs, but both were out early. Minnu Mani was out for zero on the first ball and Anushka Sharma was out after scoring only 8 runs.
In this difficult situation, Tejal Hasbanis and captain Radha Yadav did wonders. Both of them made a strong partnership of 69 runs for the fifth wicket. Yadav scored 36 runs (3 fours, 1 six) in 30 balls. Hasbanis scored unbeaten 51 runs (34 balls, 3 fours, 2 sixes) and took the team to a respectable score. Fahima Khatoon of Bangladesh took the most wickets with a brilliant spell of 4/25.
Bowlers showed edge
Bangladesh A had a bad start with the target of 135 runs. Indian bowlers maintained pressure from the beginning and all out the team for 88 runs in 19.1 overs. Prema Rawat broke the middle order by taking 3/12 in 4 overs. Sonia Mendhiya and Tanuja Kanwar took 2-2 wickets. Saima Thakor, Minnu Mani and Radha Yadav took 1 wicket each.
For Bangladesh, Shamima Sultana showed some fight by scoring 20 runs (3 fours) in 15 balls. Captain Fahima Khatoon scored 14 runs, but the rest of the batsmen could not make a partnership. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Victory came through strong teamwork
This victory was the result of India A’s teamwork, patience and excellent bowling. Tejal Hasbanis’s innings and Prema Rawat’s bowling were most important. The team performed consistently well in the tournament and retained the title. This victory is a big encouragement for the emerging Indian women cricketers.
