Congress leader Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur, Rajasthan said, “If a leader like Indira Gandhi was alive today, she would have banned a party like BJP.” He said that there is a need to further strengthen the INDIA alliance. Gehlot also said that the INDIA alliance should openly accept the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

He said, “During Indira Gandhi’s time, Congress was on one side and all other parties were on the other. During that time, a campaign of ‘remove Congress, save the country’ was launched, but within just two and a half years, the public brought Indira Gandhi back to power.” Gehlot further said, “When the public will realize the truth and stand completely with the Congress, then the parties standing with the NDA and the BJP today will also turn against the BJP.”

Gehlot further says, “I have seen many types of situations in my political life, but the atmosphere in the country today is very dangerous… What is their (BJP) thinking? They are deliberately weakening the country by pushing religious agenda. Muslims are targeted so that people can be shown that they are a party of ‘Hindutva’.”
