Foreign Ministry gave information

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the decision was taken after detailed discussions between the Government of India and the African Union. Both sides agreed to postpone the summit and said new dates would be announced later. The ministry clarified that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the emerging public health situation in some parts of Africa.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the decision was taken in view of the emerging health challenges and the need for public health preparedness in some areas in the African continent. Both sides emphasized that the priority at this time is to strengthen the health response capacity of African countries. In this context, the role of Africa CDC has been described as important, and India has reiterated its commitment to support the efforts of this institution.

Emphasis on India-Africa partnership

Reiterating its long-term partnership and solidarity with African countries, India said it will continue cooperation in areas such as public health, development and capacity building. The Ministry of External Affairs said that both India and the African Union are committed to working with the people and governments of Africa to strengthen health systems.

According to the government statement, after discussions between India, the Chairperson of the African Union and the African Union Commission, it was concluded that it would be more appropriate to postpone the summit for some time. The purpose of this decision is to ensure that future conferences can have the full participation of all African leaders and stakeholders.

New dates to be announced later

The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the new dates for the India-Africa Forum Summit IV and its related programs will be decided after mutual consultation. The official announcement will be shared in due course. Relations between India and Africa have been historically strong and both sides are continuously expanding partnerships in areas such as trade, energy, digital cooperation, health and education.
