India AI Impact Summit 2026: NPCI launches UPI One World Wallet service for foreign delegates, know transaction limits and rules
India AI Impact Summit 2026 has started from today at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, where tech giants from all over the world are participating. In view of this global event, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched UPI One World Wallet Service for the convenience of international visitors.
This service, launched as a pilot initiative, will enable foreign delegates to easily make digital payments during their stay in India. The main objective of this facility is to connect foreign guests with India’s digital payment system.
What is UPI One World Wallet
It is a prepaid digital wallet service specially developed for foreign travellers. The special thing about this service is that there is no need for foreign users to have an Indian mobile number or open an account in a local bank.
Through UPI One World, foreign users will be able to make real-time person-to-merchant payments by scanning the UPI QR code. This facility has been made available to representatives of more than 40 countries. NPCI has made this service available at New Delhi International Airport and the NPCI Pavilion located inside Bharat Mandapam.
Wallet Setup Process
After downloading the UPI app, you will have to complete the registration process. This requires submitting passport and visa details. For identity verification, a selfie will have to be uploaded and a UPI PIN will have to be set.
After approval by the system, the user will get a unique UPI ID. After this, the amount can be loaded into the UPI wallet using an international debit or credit card.
Transaction limits and rules
The maximum limit per transaction in this wallet has been kept at Rs 25,000. Users can load this wallet 2 times every month, with a monthly limit of Rs 50,000.
If any balance remains unused in the Wallet, it can be returned to the original payment source of the Bank as per foreign exchange rules. This facility provides financial security to the passengers.
Initiative to promote digital payments
NPCI aims to provide easy access to India’s digital payment system to foreign users. Often foreign guests face difficulties with local payment systems in India, as they require an Indian bank account or mobile number.
This facility of making payment through UPI QR code is a direct solution to these problems. With this, foreign delegates will be able to make purchases and payments without any hassle during major events organized in the country.
This initiative is an important step towards strengthening India’s digital infrastructure globally. Such facilities at international events like AI Impact Summit showcase India’s technological capability.
