IND vs ENG 1st ODI: The Indian team has defeated England by 6 wickets in the first ODI match played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. With this victory, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3 ODI series. Batting first, England had scored 258 runs. In reply, the Indian team achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in just 45.2 overs. For India, captain Shubhman Gill played an inning of 80 runs, while all-rounder Akshar Patel scored unbeaten 57 runs and Washington Sundar scored unbeaten 52 runs to give Team India a spectacular victory. Akshar Patel was given the Player of the Match award for scoring fifty with the bat with 4 wickets.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were out early

To chase the target of 259 runs given by England, Team India’s innings was started by Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. Gill made a fast start from one end. However, Rohit failed to play a big innings from the other end. Sam Curran dismissed Rohit Sharma in the 8th over. Hitman scored only 11 runs on 21 balls. After this, Virat Kohli, who came to bat, also got out early and returned to the pavilion. He was introduced by Joffra Archer. Kohli scored 6 runs in 5 balls with the help of 1 four. In this way, Team India had lost 2 big wickets on the score of 48 runs.

Century partnership between Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer

After this, captain Shubhman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer took charge and made a century partnership for the third wicket. The English bowlers looked helpless in front of both the Indian batsmen, but Gill retired hurt due to muscle strain. Gill played an unbeaten inning of 80 runs in 75 balls, which included 11 fours and one six.

Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar secured victory by scoring fifties.

After Shubman Gill retired hurt, Team India lost 2 wickets quickly. Shreyas Iyer was run out and returned to the pavilion. Iyer scored 35 runs. After this, KL Rahul lost his wicket cheaply after scoring just 1 run. He was chased by Josh Tong, but after this, both India’s all-rounders Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar took charge and made a partnership of 102 runs for the fifth wicket, giving Team India a spectacular victory by 6 wickets.

In this match against India, after winning the toss and batting first, the England team was reduced to 258 runs in 47.5 overs. For England, Joe Root played an unbeaten inning of 76 runs in 76 balls with the help of 6 fours and one six. Liam Dawson scored 68 runs in 83 balls with the help of 6 fours and one six. Ben Duckett played an inning of 43 runs in 45 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Will Jacques scored 20 runs. Apart from this, Jacob Bethel contributed 14 runs and Joffra Archer contributed 12 runs. For India, Akshar Patel took 4 wickets, while Prasidh Krishna and Brar took 2-2 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah got one success.
