India has defeated South Africa by 30 runs in the fifth T20 match played in Ahmedabad. With this victory, Suryakumar Yadav Brigade has won the series 3-1.
Team India, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 231 runs at the loss of 5 wickets, thanks to the explosive innings of Hardik Pandya (65 runs in 25 balls) and Tilak Verma (73 runs in 42 balls). In reply, South Africa had scored 118 runs losing 1 wicket in 10 overs. The Proteas team was moving strongly towards the target but Jasprit Bumrah gave a big blow to it by taking the wicket of Quinton de Kock (65 runs from 35 balls) after the drinks.
On the first ball of the next over i.e. 12th over, Hardik Pandya derailed the South African team’s innings by getting Dewald Brevis (35 runs in 17 balls) caught by Washington Sundar. The team captained by Aiden Markram could never recover from these setbacks and could reach only 201 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. For India, Varun Chakraborty took the maximum of 4 wickets for 53 runs in 4 overs.
