Is there really any problem between Virat-Rohit and Gambhir? Indian coach made a big revelation
Key Points:
Before the second ODI between India and New Zealand, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak talked about the new rule. He said that after the T20 World Cup, the thinking about ODI batting will have to change. He also told that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are involved in the planning of 2027 World Cup.
Delhi: The second ODI match between India and New Zealand will be played on 14 January in Rajkot. Before the match, Indian men’s cricket team’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak shared important things about ODI cricket.
While talking to the media before the second ODI against New Zealand, Sitanshu Kotak said that there is still a big difference between T20 and ODI cricket. He said, “There is still a lot of difference between T20 and ODI cricket. In most of the ODI matches being played in India, more than 300 runs are being scored and sometimes such a big target is also being chased.”
Kotak further said, “After the T20 World Cup, the number of ODI matches will increase. Also, considering the new rule of using only one ball after 34 overs, we will have to change our batting strategy.”
Under the new rule, the team bowling between 35 and 50 overs will use only one ball. Due to this, the batsmen will need to play according to the new conditions in the last overs.
Kotak said on Virat-Rohit
The coach also made it clear that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are an important part of India’s long-term ODI plan. He said, “Virat and Rohit are an important part of India’s long-term ODI plans. They are involved in the preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup and are leading the team’s batting.”
In recent months, there has been a lot of discussion about the coordination between Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and the new coaching setup. Talking about this, Kotak said that there are constant talks between Virat-Rohit and coach Gautam Gambhir. He said, “Both the players are in constant conversation with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team management and are planning the future together.”
Talking about Ravindra Jadeja’s form and future, Kotak said, “It is not my job to decide on the future of any player. But Jadeja is completely fit and is performing well.”
He further said, “When a player is playing well and enjoying the game, he naturally wants to play for India and do better for the team.”
