The K-4 SLBM is an intermediate range submarine-launched nuclear ballistic missile. It has been installed in Arihant class submarines of the Navy. Earlier the Indian Navy was using K-15. But K-4 is a much better, accurate, maneuverable and easy-to-operate missile.
INS Arighaat and Arighat submarines have four vertical launching systems. Due to which it launches. This missile weighs 17 tons and is 39 feet long. Its diameter is 4.3 meters. It is capable of flying with a strategic nuclear weapon weighing 2500 kg.
Operational range 4000 kilometers
This two-stage missile runs on a solid rocket motor. In this the propellant is also solid. Its operational range is 4000 kilometers. India has a rule that it will not launch a nuclear attack on anyone first, but if it does so then it will not leave it either. Therefore, it is very important to have such missiles in the Navy.

After this, the second successful test launch was conducted on 7 March 2016. Whose trajectory was depressed. In 2016, a successful trial launch for 700 km range was conducted from INS Arihant. On 17 December 2017, an underwater pontoon launch was also launched but it was unsuccessful. After this, on January 19, 2020, a successful test launch was conducted for the fifth time from the pontoon for a range of 3500 km. The successful test launch was for the sixth time in 2020.
