India defeated Japan 2-0 and made it to the final of Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
Rajgir, 19 November (Hindustanism). Indian women's hockey team has entered the final of Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 by defeating Japan 2-0 in the semi-final played at Rajgir Hockey Stadium today. Navneet Kaur (48') opened India's account with a penalty stroke, and Lalremsiami (56') scored the second goal to ensure India's victory.
India pressed high from the start of the game and made early circle entries. Navneet Kaur and Sangeeta Kumari's efforts were stopped by Japan goalkeeper Yu Kudo. India earned several penalty corners in the first half, but were unable to convert them. The Indian defense did not give any chance to Japan and the first half remained goalless.
In the third quarter, India gradually tried to turn the match in its favour, but Japan's defense remained strong. In the fourth quarter, India got a penalty stroke which was successfully converted by Navneet Kaur. A few minutes later, Lalremsiami doubled India's lead by converting a brilliant pass from Sunalita Toppo into a goal.
Japan got a penalty corner in the final moments, but Indian goalkeeper Bichu Devi saved it. With this victory, India decided to compete against China in the final. The title match will start on November 20 at 4:45 pm.
