India defeated Pakistan in T-20 World Cup, defeated by 64 runs
In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the Indian women’s cricket team registered a spectacular victory by defeating its arch-rival Pakistan by 64 runs. In the match played at Edgbaston, India, batting first, scored 170 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which Pakistan’s entire team was reduced to 106 runs in 17 overs.
The heroine of India’s victory was all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who performed brilliantly in bowling and took 5 wickets for just 10 runs in 4 overs. Whereas in batting, Smriti Mandhana played an important role in taking the team to a strong score by scoring a brilliant half-century.
Mandhana and Harmanpreet took over the innings
The start of the Indian team was nothing special and after the initial setbacks, Shefali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues quickly returned to the pavilion. After this Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur took charge.
Both the batsmen made an important partnership of 91 runs for the third wicket. Mandhana played a brilliant inning of 68 runs in 44 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 36 runs.
Richa Ghosh gave a banging finish
In the last overs of the innings, wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh batted fast and took the Indian score to 170 runs. Richa scored 34 runs in just 17 balls and put pressure on Pakistan’s bowlers while batting at a strike rate of 200.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana took two wickets each, while Tasmiya Rubab and Ramin Shamim got one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 171 runs, Pakistan made an aggressive start. Muniba Ali and Gul Firozha gave the team a strong start by adding 38 runs for the first wicket. Pakistan scored 52 runs in the powerplay, which is its highest powerplay score so far in the Women’s T20 World Cup.
Muniba Ali scored 41 runs in 35 balls, but Pakistan’s innings faltered as soon as she was run out.
Deepti Sharma turned the match
After Muniba’s runout, the Indian bowlers completely took control of the match. Deepti Sharma first dismissed Gul Firozha and Ayesha Zafar, then dashed Pakistan’s hopes by taking three wickets in a single over.
Captain Fatima Sana could not even open her account, while Aliya Riaz was out after scoring 18 runs. Pakistan’s last five wickets fell for just 17 runs and the entire team collapsed for 106 runs.
Deepti Sharma strengthened her claim to be the best player of the match by taking 5 wickets. Apart from them, Shri Charani took 3 wickets and Shefali Verma took 1 wicket.
