India Digital Census 2027: Now enter your information from mobile sitting at home, self-enumeration portal of India’s first digital census launched

News India Live, Digital Desk: A new chapter has been added in the administrative history of India. The country’s first digital census (Digital Census 2027) has been announced. The Central Government has launched a dedicated Self-Enumeration portal, with the help of which citizens can now enter their and their family’s information online without waiting for a government employee to visit their home. What is ‘Self-Enumeration’? It is a secure, web-based facility that gives citizens the freedom to submit their information even before the census enumerator arrives at their home. The process is completely digital and can be completed in 16 regional languages. Step-by-Step Process: How to fill your details? Visit the portal: First login to the official website. Registration: Select your state/UT and fill the captcha. After this, enter the name and mobile number of the head of the family. OTP Verification: An OTP will come on your mobile number, after filling which you will be able to log in. Location Identification: Mark the exact location of your house through the digital map given on the portal. For this, it is better to use laptop or desktop. Fill the information: You will be asked about 31 to 34 questions (like house condition, education, drinking water, electricity etc.). Fill the answers to all the questions carefully. Final Submit: After checking all the information, click on ‘Final Submit’. Once submitted, you will not be able to make changes yourself. Receive SE-ID: After successful submission, you will receive an 11 digit ‘Self-Enumeration ID’ (SE ID). Keep it safe or take a screenshot. What to do with the SE-ID? When the enumerators come to your house, you will not need to give them lengthy information. You just have to show them your SE-ID. They will enter it in their mobile app and your information will be verified instantly. This will save time for both you and them. Important points and time limit 15 days window: This portal will open just 15 days before the start of houselisting in your area. Start of the first phase: This facility has been started in Andaman and Nicobar, Goa, Karnataka, Sikkim, Odisha, Lakshadweep, Mizoram and Delhi (NDMC and Cantt) from 1st April 2026. Not required: The special thing is that for this process you do not need to upload any identity card or documents.
