India Economic Growth: With a GDP of $4.18 trillion in 2025, India has surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth largest economy and will overtake Germany in the next two and a half to three years. This information was given in an official statement issued by the government. Citing experts, the government has predicted that India’s GDP will reach $7.3 trillion by 2030. The OECD forecasts growth of 6.7 percent in 2025 and 6.2 percent in 2026. The government has said that India is one of the fastest growing major economies in the world.

In the second quarter of the current financial year, 2025-26, the growth rate was the highest in six quarters and is also the fastest growing economy in the world. The US is the world’s largest economy, followed by China, a government statement previewing reforms to 2025 said, adding that strong private consumption led to domestic factors playing a central role in GDP expansion. International rating agencies have once again said that India’s growth rate will continue to be strong. Fastest growing economy Moody’s expects India to be the fastest growing economy among the G20 countries, with a growth rate of 6.4 percent in 2026 and 6.5 percent in 2027. The IMF has raised its growth forecast to 6.6 percent for 2025 and 6.2 percent for 2026.

Tensions between China and Japan have reached a peak over Taiwan. Since the new Prime Minister’s statement on Taiwan, China has been opening up its base against Japan. India has overtaken Japan to become the world’s fourth largest economy, giving China an opportunity once again. Hu Zijin, a former editor of China’s state newspaper and known for his venomous speeches, also attacked Japan, while sarcastically congratulating India, he also attacked Japan, saying that Japan is currently in the worst situation. Hu Zijin also took aim at India’s success, saying, “I would like to congratulate India, but it is still 16 years behind China.” Hu Zijin posted on X.
