In this conversation, he (Dissanayake) had talked about the disruptions in fuel supply to Sri Lanka due to the Middle East conflict.

After this he writes, India immediately extended a helping hand and for this I am thankful to them. 38,000 MT of fuel arrived in Colombo on Saturday. Dissanayake also mentioned and thanked Foreign Minister S Jaishankar for his full support during the current crisis. Former minister and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa also thanked India through X Post.

He said that as always, India followed its neighbor’s religion with full devotion. He also wrote on Twitter that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India have once again maintained the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy through the timely shipment of 38,000 MT of petroleum to Sri Lanka. He said, “India has always been the first line of support for Sri Lanka in times of crisis, from essential supplies to economic assistance, which is a true reflection of its Neighborhood First policy. As a region, it is important that the countries work together as strategic partners for the betterment of the region.”

Along with this, Rajapaksa advised the Government of India to consider a model like Special Additional Excise Duty. He said in X Post that India has reduced the excise duty not to reduce prices immediately, but to stabilize the market and prevent further increase in prices during the volatility in global oil prices.
