India got 142nd position in FIFA 2025 world rankings… Spain on top, list released after 42 international matches

Zurich. Spain is still ahead of world champions Argentina after regaining the top spot in September 2025 while India remains at its 142nd position in the world rankings. Spain (1st, unchanged) remains on top in September, ousting second-placed Argentina (2nd, unchanged) in September, while France (3rd, unchanged) completes the podium in the year-end line-up.

The December 2025 edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Rankings – the last of the year – has been released following 42 recent international matches, with the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 taking center stage. After winning the regional title in Doha, Qatar, Morocco (11th, unchanged) is just shy of breaking into the top 10 for the first time since April 1998, just 0.54 points behind Croatia (10th, unchanged).

Along with Croatia, other countries in the top 10 were England (fourth), Brazil (fifth), Portugal (sixth), Netherlands (seventh), Belgium (eighth) and Germany (ninth) which remained unchanged. The biggest jumps occurred at the bottom of the rankings, with only three teams moving up more than one place:

Jordan (64th, up 2 places), who gave the Atlas Lions a tough fight before finishing runners-up at the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, Vietnam (107th, up 3 places) and Singapore (148th, up 3 places). Kosovo (80th, unchanged) emerged as the Team of the Year with 89.02 points, more than any other team, on the back of their impressive record of seven wins and two draws from 10 matches in 2025.

Overall, he jumped 19 places, the biggest of the year in 2025. Other best performers include Norway (29th, unchanged), which scored 68.70 points, and Suriname (123rd, unchanged), which climbed 15 places since the December 2024 ranking.

Twelve other countries have also climbed 10 to 14 places in the last one year. The distribution of the top-50 countries by confederation at the end of 2025 is the same as at the end of last year, with 26 countries belonging to UEFA, seven to CONMEBOL (1 less) and CAF, five to CONCACAF (1 more) and the AFC, and no countries to the OFC.
