India has done wonders, the fear of Trump tariffs is over, America is stunned!

New Delhi. Amid global economic uncertainties, India has shown strength on the export front. India’s total exports reached $38.5 billion in December 2025, which is 1.87 percent more than the same month last year. This figure indicates that the fear of Trump tariffs imposed by America is no longer affecting Indian exporters.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal said that the country’s import in December stood at $63.55 billion, whereas in December last year it was $58.43 billion. Trade deficit during this period was recorded at 25 billion dollars. He said that despite global uncertainties, India’s exports are maintaining a positive pace.

Export estimation in financial year 2025-26

According to Rajesh Aggarwal, India’s export of goods and services is estimated to be more than $850 billion in the current financial year. During April-December 2025, exports increased by 2.44 percent to $330.29 billion. He also said that there was a slight decline in exports to America in December, but in the nine-month period of the financial year, exports to America increased by 9.75 percent on an annual basis.

Success of export diversification

India has diversified exports towards China, Russia and the Middle East. This strategy was successful in supporting exports even after Trump increased tariffs in August. Additionally, trade agreements and incentive schemes with the EU and other countries increased opportunities for Indian exporters.

India-US trade talks also continue

Last year, bilateral trade agreement negotiations between India and America were hampered, but teams from both the countries are now continuously holding talks through virtual medium. Rajesh Aggarwal said that nothing has been decided yet about any deadline, the agreement will be reached when both the parties are ready.
