Delhi. India is among the countries most affected by spam calls in the world. Sales and telemarketing calls remain the main cause of this problem. This information has been given in a report by ‘Truecaller’, a platform that provides identification of callers. Indonesia tops the global list of countries most affected by spam calls. This is followed by Chile, Vietnam and Brazil.
The data, based on anonymized and aggregated data from Truecaller’s 500 million global users, shows that the company identified more than 68 billion spam and fraudulent calls worldwide in 2025.
The intensity of spam calls in India was recorded at 66 percent. According to the data, ‘sales’ and ‘telemarketing’ calls accounted for the highest share of total spam activity in India at 36 percent, followed by financial services (18 percent). At the same time, the share of fraud in the total spam calls in the country was found to be 12 percent.
