India made a clean sweep by defeating West Indies in the third women's ODI, all-round performance by Deepti Sharma

Indian women's cricket team defeated West Indies by five wickets in the third ODI played on Friday and made a clean sweep of the three-match series 3-0. Deepti Sharma gave a brilliant all-round performance in this victory. He gave the best performance of his career in bowling, taking six wickets for 31 runs and also scored unbeaten 39 runs with the bat, leading the team to victory.

The brilliance of Indian bowlers

Indian bowlers bowled out West Indies for 162 runs.

  • Renuka Singh Thakur broke the back of the opposition team by giving the initial blow.
  • Deepti Sharma showed the magic of spin and sent the middle order and lower order to the pavilion cheaply.
  • This was Deepti's third five-wicket haul in ODIs and the second time she took six wickets.

Renuka dismissed Kiyan on the very first ball of the match and then sent Hayley Mathews to the pavilion without opening the account.

West Indies partnership:

  • Shinnelle Henry (61) and Shamaine Campbell (46) tried to take control of the team by making a partnership of 97 runs.
  • Apart from these, only Aliya Eleni (21) could reach double digits.
  • West Indies' innings ended in the 39th over.

Chasing the target of 163 runs

Despite initial setbacks, the Indian team achieved the target in 28.2 overs.

  • Deepti Sharma (39 not out, 48 balls) and Richa Ghosh (23 runs, 11 balls) played fast in the end and led the team to victory.

Struggle for the top:

  • India had lost four wickets for 73 runs.
  • Last match's centurion Harleen Deol (1) was out early.
  • Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (4) was also out due to excellent fielding by Ashmini Munisar.
  • Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (32 runs, 22 balls) played an aggressive innings but lost her wicket while trying to play a big shot.
  • Jemimah Rodrigues (29 runs, 45 balls) played a useful innings in the middle order.

Deepti Sharma performed excellently with both ball and bat.

  • He took six wickets for 31 runs and destroyed the middle order of West Indies.
  • In batting, Deepti provided stability to the Indian innings by scoring an unbeaten 39 runs and led the team to victory.

West Indies' weaknesses

  • Even after recovering from the initial setbacks, the team failed to make a big partnership.
  • The top order was a complete failure, and had it not been for the Henry-Campbell partnership, the team would not have even scored 100 runs.
