India-Pakistan’s big step amid tension, exchange of list of nuclear sites

Relations between India and Pakistan have been tense for a long time. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, these lists were exchanged simultaneously through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad. This process was done strictly according to the set rules and international agreements. This tradition was performed for the 35th time

India’s Foreign Ministry said that this is the 35th exchange of the list of nuclear sites between India and Pakistan. This list was first shared on January 1, 1992. Since then, this process continues every year without any interruption. This shows that both countries are serious on the issue of nuclear security.

What is India-Pakistan nuclear agreement?

In fact, This important agreement between India and Pakistan was signed on 31 December 1988.which came into effect from 27 January 1991. The purpose of this agreement is that no country should attack the nuclear installations or facilities of another. Under this, both the countries have to share information about their nuclear facilities on January 1 every year.

Why is it important to share information about nuclear bases?

Exchange of list of nuclear bases is considered a confidence building measure. This sends a clear message that both countries will not be careless regarding nuclear security.
