India Poised to Become Global Intelligence Hub: Mukesh Ambani as Reliance Partners with NVIDIA to Build Advanced AI Infrastructure

Mumbai : In a significant step towards advancing India’s position in the global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, Reliance Industries and NVIDIA have announced a strategic partnership to build cutting-edge AI infrastructure in the country. The announcement was made during the NVIDIA AI Summit 2024 in Mumbai by Jensen HuangCEO of NVIDIA, and Mukesh AmbaniChairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries.

Highlighting India’s growing role in the AI ecosystem, Huang stated, “To lead in artificial intelligence, you need three things: AI model technology, data, and AI infrastructure. India already has AI technology and data, and today we’re announcing our partnership with Reliance to build AI infrastructure here.” Huang emphasized India’s unique advantage—a vast population of users fueling the AI “flywheel”—as a critical factor in this ambitious initiative.

Mukesh Ambani expressed strong optimism about India’s AI future, saying, “India will be one of the biggest intelligence markets. Our raw talent, particularly the youth, is driving intelligence. Once we harness AI for our domestic markets, India will export AI services globally, integrating beyond software and creating a better world.” Ambani noted that India, already known for producing world-leading CEOs, will soon have “hundreds of millions of Indians delivering AI services.”

Huang echoed these sentiments, predicting a major shift in India’s role on the global stage. “India used to export software,” he said. “In the future, India will export AI. I look forward to partnering with all of you to place India at the center of this new industrial revolution.”

Ambani described this transformation as part of the larger “intelligence revolution,” which he believes will drive global prosperity. “We are at the threshold of the new intelligence age, which will benefit all 8 billion people across the world,” he said.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra ModiAmbani emphasized the importance of India’s youthful demographic in driving the country’s economic and technological aspirations. “As our Prime Minister has said, this is a new aspirational India, with the average age of 1.4 billion Indians under 35. It is not just new technologies like AI driving our economy, but also the aspirations of our youth,” he said. Ambani credited Modi’s leadership with transforming India into a premier digital societyproviding the groundwork for this next leap in AI development.

India’s robust digital infrastructure, Ambani stressed, is another key enabler of its AI potential. “Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure—4G, 5G, and broadband—making it fast becoming an innovation hub for the world,” he noted. He further added that India’s focus is shifting from being a manufacturing hub to becoming a center for global innovation.

The Reliance-NVIDIA partnership marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global AI powerhouse, with the infrastructure, talent, and ambition to drive the intelligence revolution both at home and abroad.
