Commercial cylinder prices increased
On the first of the month, government companies increased the prices of commercial cylinders by ₹ 993. Due to this increase, the price of 19 kg cylinder in Delhi became ₹ 3071.50. In many cities including Mumbai this price is around ₹ 3000. However, the government has not increased the prices of domestic cylinders this month.
Gold import duty increased
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appealed to the countrymen to save the country’s foreign exchange reserves and reduce the pressure on CAD. He also appealed to the people not to buy gold next year and reduce the use of petrol and diesel. After this appeal, the government itself increased the import duty on many precious metals including gold and silver. The import duty which was earlier 6%, was increased to 15%. This is expected to reduce the import of gold in future.
Milk prices also increased
Meanwhile, the country’s big dairy product selling companies Mother Dairy and Amul also had a huge impact on the pockets of the common man. Both the companies announced the increase in milk prices on the same day, May 13, 2026. First Amul announced an increase of ₹ 2 per liter, then in the evening an increase of ₹ 2 per liter was made on different types of milk. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mother Dairy said that the cost of purchasing milk from farmers has increased by about 6% in the last one year.
Increase in CNG prices
The day on which the increased milk prices were to come into effect. That means on May 14, 2026, CNG prices in Mumbai also increased by ₹ 2 per kg. Due to this increase, the price of CNG there became ₹ 84 per kg. After this increase, auto fares are also expected to increase. The next day, on May 15, CNG prices also increased in Delhi. In the national capital, CNG prices increased by ₹2 per kg to now stand at ₹79.09 per kg.
Petrol and diesel prices
Ever since tensions started in the Middle East, the country’s oil market has been under pressure due to interruptions in the supply of crude oil. Oil prices have increased due to the Hormuz blockade. Due to rising prices of crude oil, government companies are incurring losses worth lakhs of crores. Meanwhile, the prices of petrol and diesel also increased today. The government increased the price by ₹3 per liter across the country.
