India reached the semi-finals of the qualifying tournament
Hyderabad, March 13, 2026: India has confirmed its place in the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup 2026. India has achieved this feat by reaching the semi-finals of the qualifying tournament currently going on in Hyderabad. According to the rules, the teams finishing in the last seven in the two Women’s World Cup Qualifier tournaments will qualify for the next Women’s Hockey World Cup. These two tournaments will be held in Hyderabad, India and Santiago, Chile. The top three teams from each tournament, plus the best fourth-place team, will qualify for the main tournament, to be held in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 15-30.
India still has to play a semi-final match against Italy in the qualifying tournament in Hyderabad, but it has already qualified for the World Cup. India is ranked sixth in the FIH women’s hockey rankings, leaving Japan behind. India will participate in the Women’s Hockey World Cup for the ninth time.
