India ready in AI era: Ashwini Vaishnav said – Will upskill IT talent, world’s data will be processed in India
New Delhi: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday said the government is aware of the challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) to the Indian IT industry and is working with educational institutions to upskill talent. Speaking at the inaugural session of the ‘India AI Impact Summit’ 2026, Vaishnav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a major policy change in the Union Budget which aims to attract the world’s data to India, store and process it here and make high-value services available globally from here.
He said, “We are also conscious of the challenges facing our IT industry and are working closely with industry and educational institutions to mitigate them, to upskill the talent and create a new talent pipeline for this new intelligence era. ”
Vaishnav said that the Prime Minister has always shown commitment towards clean energy and currently more than 50 percent of India’s power generation capacity is coming from clean sources. “Our visionary Prime Minister has also recently undertaken reforms in the nuclear power sector, which is a vital sector for supplying clean energy baseload. Over the last decade we have almost completely strengthened and rebuilt our electricity grid,” he said.
