India termed the news of Elon Musk’s participation in the discussion between PM Modi and Trump as wrong.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday, March 28, 2026, strongly denied reports that Tesla and SpaceX CEO **Elon Musk** was part of the telephone conversation between Prime Minister **Narendra Modi** and US President **Donald Trump** on March 24. The MEA clarified that the discussion was solely between the two leaders and its main topic was the changing situation in West Asia.
“We have seen the news. The telephone conversation on March 24 was only between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump,” an MEA spokesperson said, rejecting claims of any third party’s involvement. The spokesperson further said that the conversation provided an opportunity to exchange views on the ongoing crisis.

The report called it a notable incident, especially considering the alleged rift between Trump and Musk last year.
This was the first direct conversation between Modi and Trump since hostilities between the US, Israel and Iran escalated in late February 2026. In a post on ‘
This clear statement by MEA has put an end to the ongoing speculations regarding the alleged involvement of any common citizen in this sensitive diplomatic conversation.
