India rules in T20 Rankings! Abhishek Sharma and Ishaan Kishan’s dominance continues, Varun Chakraborty’s throne snatched away
Dubai: Ishan Kishan, who has mesmerized cricket lovers with his aggressive batting, on the basis of his brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup, has secured the second position in the list of batsmen in the international rankings of the shorter format of the game released on Wednesday and he is only four points behind top-ranked Abhishek Sharma.
Abhishek, who scored a half-century against New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup, remains the world’s number one batsman. His fellow left-handed batsman Kishan has moved up two places to second position after scoring 317 runs in the tournament. Now he has become Abhishek’s closest rival. Kishan (871 points) achieved the new highest rating of his career and is now just four rating points behind Abhishek (875 points). New Zealand’s Tim Seifert (up four places to sixth) and England’s Jacob Bethell (up 17 places to 16th) also achieved career-best rankings on the back of some brilliant innings in the T20 World Cup.
New Zealand opener Finn Allen (up seven places to 20th) also benefited, breaking the record for the fastest century ever in the Men’s T20 World Cup by scoring a century in 33 balls against South Africa in the semi-final. Indian openers and wicketkeepers Sanju Samson (up 18 places to 22nd) and Shivam Dubey (up four places to 27th) also improved their batting rankings thanks to their brilliant innings in the tournament. However, there has been a change in the ranking of bowlers.
Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who could not perform as expected in the T20 World Cup, has been removed from the first position and in his place Afghanistan’s spinner Rashid Khan has become the world’s number one bowler. Chakraborty has 740 rating points and is second only to Rashid (753), whose team Afghanistan was eliminated from the tournament in the group stage itself. Despite this, he was successful in securing first place in place of Chakraborty.
Other bowlers who have improved in the rankings after performing well in the World Cup include Adil Rashid (up one place to fourth), Jasprit Bumrah (up one place to sixth) and Axar Patel (up six places to 17th). The competition in the ranking of all-rounders in T20 is also very tough. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza and India’s star player Hardik Pandya achieved the best ratings of their career and occupy the first two positions. Shivam Dubey has slipped two places to 11th position. Right attractive heading
