Big agreements between India and Russia: From e-Visa to urea production, Modi-Putin laid the foundation of new partnership
India Russia Agreements: Bilateral talks were held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, after which several important agreements were exchanged. These agreements have further strengthened India-Russia partnership in areas such as energy, trade, migration, food security and education.
In the joint press conference after the talks, PM Modi took a big step and announced free e-tourist visa for the citizens of Russia. This e-Visa will be valid for 30 days and will encourage travel of Russian citizens to India. Along with this, 30-day group tourist visa has also been made available.
Main agreements-
Agreement on Migration and Temporary Labor Activities
This agreement has brought great relief to the Indian workers, because under this, Indian workers will be able to go to Russia in an organized manner and work at better wages.
Agreement on healthcare and medical education
Both the countries will cooperate in strengthening medical education and healthcare infrastructure, which will increase research and expertise.
Agreement on Food Safety and Standards
This will increase mutual cooperation in agricultural products and food quality standards, which will facilitate trade.
Cooperation on shipbuilding and polar ships
Under ‘Make in India’, Russia will provide technical assistance to India in shipbuilding. An agreement has also been reached on the construction of polar ships.
Talk on agreement on fertilizers
India imports large quantities of urea from Russia every year. Now both the countries will jointly produce urea, which will reduce India’s fertilizer dependence and the supply will remain stable.
Apart from this, it has also been decided to open two new Indian Consulates in Russia, which will ease business and civil services.
