New Delhi: The Indian Investigation Committee formed in connection with the alleged failed conspiracy to murder Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu held a meeting with officials in the US. India said on Thursday that it has taken the information given by the US very seriously.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this during a press conference here. To another question about the individual named in the US Department of Justice (DOJ) indictment in connection with the case, Jaiswal confirmed that the individual is no longer an employee of the Indian government.

The US had earlier said that the Indian government has shown seriousness in dealing with the allegations of conspiracy to murder Pannu. A team of Indian officials recently met with officials from the State Department and Justice Department in Washington.

Following the US allegations, India appointed a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the information provided by the US regarding the conspiracy. Jaiswal said that two members of the committee went to America and held a meeting with American officials.
