Indian team entered Super-8 by defeating Netherlands

Ahmedabad: The Indian cricket team continued its excellent performance by defeating Netherlands by 17 runs in the final match of Group A in the T20 World Cup 2026. With this win, India has topped the group stage with 8 points.

Now the Indian team will try to maintain this excellent rhythm in the Super-8 stage. Their next match will be played against South Africa on 22 February in Ahmedabad.

In this match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bat first. The Indian team scored 193 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, which proved to be a very challenging total. The Netherlands team, which came to chase the target, could score only 176 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, and thus they lost by 17 runs.

Netherlands started strong

Netherlands openers Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd added 35 runs for the first wicket. Both the batsmen were playing well, but in the sixth over, Varun Chakraborty gave India its first success by dismissing Max O’Dowd for 20 runs.

After this, Bas De Leede and Colin Ackerman made a quick 49-run partnership for the third wicket, which kept the excitement in the match. But Varun Chakraborty dismissed Ackerman for 23 runs with his amazing spin bowling. After this the Netherlands innings faltered, and wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

In the final overs, Noah Cross and Jack Lion-Cashette tried to win by adding quick runs for the team, but they could not complete it. For India, Varun Chakraborty took three wickets, while all-rounder Shivam Dubey took two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya also took one wicket each. Shivam Dubey’s innings was important in Indian batting.

Logan Van Beek’s best performance

Shivam Dubey played an important role in putting the team in a strong position by scoring 66 runs. Among other batsmen, captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 34, Tilak Verma scored 31 and Hardik Pandya scored 30 runs. Due to these contributions India was successful in reaching 193 runs. For Netherlands, Logan Van Beek took three wickets, while Aryan Dutt dismissed two batsmen.
