India Serbia Presidential Meeting Strengthens Ties
President of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mr Aleksandar Vučić, paid an official visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan today where he was received by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, for bilateral talks aimed at strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
President Murmu warmly welcomed President Vučić and fondly recalled her own state visit to Serbia in June 2023, expressing gratitude for the gracious hospitality extended to her and her delegation by the Serbian leadership.
Highlighting the deep historical ties, President Murmu noted that India and Serbia share a special bond as co-founders of the Non-Aligned Movement and current partners in the Global South. She emphasised that both countries have a significant role to play in advancing the interests of the Global South on the world stage.
The Indian President identified Artificial Intelligence as a promising area for enhanced collaboration, given the strong competencies of both nations in the field. She also stressed the need to expand bilateral trade and investment, pointing to IT, manufacturing, agriculture, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and education as key sectors that could serve as pillars of future engagement.
The two leaders agreed that there is immense untapped potential to further deepen bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit and prosperity of the peoples of India and Serbia.
The meeting underscores the shared commitment of India and Serbia to broaden their strategic partnership in an evolving global landscape.
