India should adopt anti-war stance: Akhilesh Yadav

Mumbai/Lucknow. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that India should have taken a stand against the ongoing conflict between America-Israel-Iran, as many women and children have lost their lives in it and it has started affecting India’s economy.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) president sarcastically said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have become “Vishwaguru” by sending a message of peace and stopping the war. “The Prime Minister and the BJP have an opportunity to become world leaders… We should have taken a stand against the war,” the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told reporters here. Women and children have been killed, and the war in India is impacting our economy.

Akhilesh Yadav arrived in Mumbai to attend the iftar hosted by party’s Maharashtra unit chief Abu Asim Azmi. He said it was necessary to send a message of peace and stop the war which has cost many lives.

“Energy security is linked to foreign policy,” Akhilesh Yadav said. Responding to reports of people standing in queues for LPG cylinders amid ‘shortage’, the SP leader said, “LPG has become the ‘missing’ gas which is affecting the lives of common people.”

The SP President accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of dividing people by spreading lies and termed it as “rumorous”. He said that this party can only spread lies, mislead and indulge in conspiracies. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman, has affected the supply of crude oil and petroleum products amid the conflict in West Asia.
