India scolded Pakistan in UNSC, Ambassador Harish Parvatneni said – Army carried out ‘constitutional coup’ through 27th amendment

New Delhi. India strongly reprimanded Pakistan in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday. India’s Ambassador to the United Nations Harish Parvatneni said that the turmoil going on in Pakistan’s internal politics is directly related to its cross-border terrorism. The ambassador said that former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was put in jail, his party was banned. Through the 27th amendment, the army changed the Constitution to its own liking. India called it a ‘constitutional coup’. The ambassador said that the way Pakistan is behaving with democracy and law shows its serious condition and under the same thinking it has been promoting terrorism for a long time. The ambassador described Pakistan as the center of terrorism.

UN report cited regarding Imran

In the debate on ‘Leadership for Peace’ in the UNSC, Ambassador Parvataneni said that Imran Khan is in jail in a corruption case since August 2023. They are being prosecuted under the Anti-Terrorism Act in cases related to the protests. He also noted the concern of United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Jill Edwards, who has alleged inhumane treatment of Imran Khan in Adiala prison.

Mention of Kashmir shows dangerous thinking of PAK

India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and completely rejected its claims on Jammu and Kashmir. Ambassador Harish Parvatneni said that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are, were, are and will always be integral and inseparable parts of India. Parvataneni further said that Pakistan’s unnecessary mention of Jammu and Kashmir shows its dangerous thinking of harming India. The ambassador termed Pakistan as the “centre of terrorism” and said that it is using a platform like the United Nations to harm India and its people. Criticizing Pakistan, he said that despite being a non-permanent Security Council member, it is running an agenda to divide people, due to which it cannot fulfill its international responsibilities.

Indus Water Treaty suspended due to terrorist attacks

At the same time, India strongly defended its decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. Parvataneni said that 65 years ago, India had signed this treaty in good faith, but Pakistan violated it and started three wars and carried out thousands of terrorist attacks. Parvataneni said, ‘Thousands of Indians have lost their lives due to terrorism in the last four decades. Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, he said that in this the terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians on the basis of religion. That is why India has decided to keep the Indus Water Treaty suspended until Pakistan ends cross-border terrorism and all forms of terrorism. The Ambassador clearly said that India will fight terrorism with full force.

Referring to the April 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 innocent civilians were killed in a religion-based targeted attack, he said the incident clearly underlines Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism. In this context, he said that India has decided to keep the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irreversibly ends its support for cross-border terrorism and all other forms of terrorism.
