India-South Africa T20 match in Lucknow cancelled, UPCA announces full refund of tickets
The fourth T20 International match between India and South Africa to be held at Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was canceled due to dense fog and smog. After this decision, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has given relief to the spectators and announced that the entire amount will be refunded to all the ticket holders of the match.
Match canceled after inspection 6 times
The match was to start at 7 pm on Wednesday, but due to very poor visibility in the stadium, even the toss could not take place. The umpires inspected the field six times, but there was no improvement in the situation. After this, the match was declared canceled at around 9:30 pm. Dense fog and fog were proving dangerous for the safety of players and umpires, hence this step was taken.
UPCA Honorary Secretary Prem Manohar Gupta said that in view of the inconvenience to the spectators, it has been decided to refund the entire ticket amount. He said that spectators purchasing tickets online do not need to go through any additional process. The refund amount will be automatically transferred to their original payment medium. Complete information related to refund will be sent to the registered email ID, hence viewers have been appealed to check the email regularly.
Special arrangements for those purchasing offline tickets
At the same time, special arrangements have been made for spectators purchasing tickets offline. Such spectators can get their money at the refund counter at the box office located at Gate No. 2 of Ekana Stadium on 20, 21 and 22 December 2025 from 11 am to 6 pm. It will be mandatory for the spectators to be physically present for offline refund. They will have to submit the refund form along with their original printed ticket, photocopy of a government identity card and bank details. Refund will be transferred directly to the bank account only after verification of documents.
Prem Manohar Gupta expressed his gratitude to the audience for their patience and cooperation and said that circumstances like weather cannot be controlled, but protection of the interests of the audience is the priority of UPCA. He reminded that the final match of the five-match T20 series between India and South Africa will be played in Ahmedabad on Friday.
