‘India stands shoulder to shoulder’, grand welcome for PM Modi in Seychelles
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Seychelles on Saturday on a three-day state visit. Here people of Indian origin gave a grand welcome to PM Modi. PM Modi also visited the Seychelles National Botanical Garden, where he met Jonathan, the world’s oldest living terrestrial animal. PM Modi has arrived here on the occasion of completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. He will also participate in the National Day celebrations of Seychelles as ‘Guest of Honour’. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend the National Day celebrations of Seychelles.
PM Moda was warmly welcomed by President Patrick Herminy at the Seychelles International Airport. PM Modi was given a guard of honor in the presence of cabinet ministers. PM Modi wrote on his X account, ‘Great cultural connection. The welcome at the airport in Seychelles also included Kutch dance. The way our migrant community has preserved the culture of different parts of India is worthy of praise.

A large number of people of Indian origin gathered outside Seychelles International Airport to welcome PM Modi. These people were seen waving the Indian flag. PM Modi also interacted with people of the Indian community. The expatriate community presented Bharatnatyam. A hymn dedicated to Lord Ram and Shiva Tandav Stotra was also recited.
PM Modi also planted a sapling of Coco de Mer in the botanical garden along with President Dr. Patrick Herminie. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this tree plantation is part of the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ initiative. It reflects the shared commitment of India and Seychelles towards sustainable development and environmental protection.

PM Modi wrote on Twitter, ‘India is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Seychelles as a trusted partner. We are working together to deepen our long-standing friendship and strengthen our collective maritime capabilities. During this, PM Modi also handed over ‘Fast Patrol Vessel Lespwar’, ambulance and utility vehicles to the Seychelles Coast Guard.
